Each group is just five photographers and I do not make my own images when out on location with them. The primary reason for this is that my own photography is totally absorbing. I feel that concentrating on making my own images during a workshop would leave me unreceptive to the individual needs and development of the photographers who join me.
During the workshops I encourage a creative approach rather than the rut of simply taking a record shot. Working alongside on a one-to-one basis, discussing compositional ideas and helping solve technical questions, seems to be an approach that strikes a chord. Many photographers have kindly returned to join me at four or five different locations and it has been a pleasure to see their confidence and creativity grow.
